An old brainstorming list from our early Classroom Management Specialists blog asked a plain question: Do you have a morning ritual?
Most exhausted rooms have a morning scramble instead. Copy piles. Ticket chaos. First contest before coffee has a chance.
Ritual is different from routine on autopilot. Ritual says: these three moves protect the rest of the day.
Adult side (before the bell): one breath, one priority for instruction, materials staged for the first lesson only — not the entire week.
Student side (at the door): Greeting Ritual. Name. Eye contact. Human moment. You are filling the relationship tank before content asks students to trust your redirects.
If the door is crazy, the room stays crazy. If the door is intentional, you buy yourself instructional credit all morning.
